The president of the Chamber of Deputies, announced that the decision on the revocation of the deputy’s mandate will be taken by the plenary of the house. The statement occurred during a plenary session, after pressure from liberal party parliamentarians, such as André Fernandes, who criticized Motta’s initial stance. Fernandes highlighted the importance of following article 55 of the Federal Constitution and the Internal Regulations of the House, which determine that the House must deliberate on the loss of mandate of acting federal deputies.

Hugo Motta stated that the decision on Zambelli’s mandate will be regimentally complied with, guaranteeing the right to defense of the deputy. He emphasized that the final word will be from the plenary, which is sovereign and has the legitimacy to decide the future of the house. Motta clarified that his decision was not influenced by Fernandes’s speech, but by an earlier hasty assessment. Deputy Altineu Côrtes thanked the clarification, highlighting the importance of the procedure for future cases of parliamentary arrests.

Meanwhile, licensed deputy Carla Zambelli is on Interpol’s list of wanted, but there are no ongoing operations against her, according to the Brazilian ambassador in Italy, Renato Mosca. Zambelli, who landed in Rome before his name is included in the list, is sought to invade the National Justice Council system with hacker Walter Delgatti in an attempt to discredit Brazilian justice. She claims to be a victim of political persecution and promised to act against the STF abroad, following the example of Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro.
