The Federal Supreme Court (STF) finished on Tuesday (10) the interrogations about the alleged scammer plot of 2022 with the testimony of former Minister Walter Braga Netto. The general, who has been in prison since December 2024, participated remotely in the session.
The case investigates an alleged conspiracy to prevent the inauguration of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva after the 2022 elections. The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) points out Bolsonaro as a central figure of the plot, which would have involved high-patent military personnel and federal government authorities.
Relaxed moment about prison
At the beginning of the statement, when Alexandre de Moraes followed the standard protocol and asked if Braga Netto had ever been arrested, the general, participating remotely in the session, replied laughing: “I am in prison, president.”

The answer caused an equally humorous reaction from Moraes: “I know the Lord is stuck, I decreed.” The moment has been laughing among those present in the plenary, creating a more relaxed climate for the interrogation of the last defendant of the “crucial core” of the alleged plot.
The episode illustrated the peculiarity of Braga Netto being the only one of the main defendants to testify of the prison, where he has been since he had the pre -trial detention decreed by Moraes in December 2024.
Denial of the operation “yellow green dagger”
Walter Braga Netto categorically denied knowledge about the operation “Yellow Green Dagger” and plans related to the 2022 World Cup. “I had never heard of yellow green dagger or 2022 pantry until the complaint,” said the general.

Denial is significant because Braga Netto is suspected of raising money from businessmen, with the PL, to finance plans aimed at monitoring and killing Minister Alexandre de Moraes, President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and elected vice president Geraldo Alckmin.
Operation “Yellow Green Dagger” represents one of the most serious accusations against the former minister, involving not only a coup conspiracy, but planning of murders of authorities. Its total denial contrasts with evidence collected by the investigation.
Braga Netto confirmed that there was a meeting at his home on November 12, 2022, as reported in Mauro Cid’s denunciation. However, the General contested the whistleblower’s version of the content and goals of the meeting.

“The meeting took place, but Cid was missing with the truth,” said Braga Netto, without specifying which aspects of the report he considers untrue. Confirmation of the meeting is important for the prosecution, as it establishes that there were meetings between central figures of the supposed conspiracy in the post-election period.
According to Cid’s denunciation, the meeting would have been to “discuss the coup,” Braga Netto version contests head -on. This divergence about the purpose of the meeting will be crucial to the evaluation of the ministers about the credibility of those involved.
Denial of money transfer
One of the most specific charges against Braga Netto involves the transfer of money in a wine packaging to finance scammer activities. The general categorically denied that the transfer occurred, contradicting.

“Cid has called for money from the PL to pay late campaign bills,” said Braga Netto, offering an alternative version for possible discussions on financial resources.
The money to finance the coup, which would have come from agribusiness entrepreneurs, is at the center of accusations against Braga Netto. The denial of the transfer on the wine packaging represents a front contradiction with the detailed report of Cid about the episode in the Dawn Palace.
According to Mauro Cid’s testimony, Walter Braga Netto acted as a link between Jair Bolsonaro and the protesters’ camps in front of the general barracks, maintained after the 2022 electoral defeat. This political articulation function would be crucial to maintaining pressure on the armed forces.

The former ordeal of orders reported that Braga Netto passed on him an unspecified amount of money, stored in a box of wine and delivered to the palace of Alvorada. “Then, General Braga Netto brought a sum of money, which I don’t know.
The money was reportedly passed on to Major Rafael Martins de Oliveira, from the Army, suggesting a funding chain for protest activities. This financial connection between the high echelon of the government and the camps represents an important evidence of the coordination of the alleged plot.
Despite the serious accusations, Mauro Cid classified Braga Netto as part of the “moderate” wing of the Armed Forces. According to the whistleblower, the general pressured Bolsonaro for an “institutional response” with the defeat at the polls, but did not integrate the most extremist current of the military summit.

Messages against Freire Gomes: “disconnected prints”
One of the most compromising evidence against Walter Braga Netto involving WhatsApp messages in which he violently attacked Army Commander General Marco Antonio Freire Gomes. On December 14, 2022, while the Defense Minister met with the three Armed Forces Commanders, Braga Netto sent a message to a military colleague, Ailton Barros.
“The fault of what is happening and will happen is from Freire Gomes. It offers his head, shit,” wrote the former head of the Civil House, showing extreme irritation with the resistance of the army commander to the scammer proposals.
The message reveals the climate of tension and division between the military in the post-election period, with Braga Netto pressing so that Freire Gomes was responsible for refusing to join the institutional rupture plans.
Closing of the interrogations of the “crucial core”
With the testimony of Walter Braga Netto, the STF ended the interrogations of the eight defendants of the “crucial core” of the alleged coup plot. The process now goes to the final allegations phase, with a period of five days for the defenses to require complementary steps.
