More than 100 social organizations, universities, popular movements, unions and collectives signed a petition sent to the manifesting “deep concern” with the house about the reform of.
The letter, written by Oxfam Brasil, an NGO that acts against inequality, is addressed to Deputies (-PB), Mayor Rubens Pereira Jr. (PT-MA), chairman of the special committee that analyzes the bill, and (-al), rapporteur of the text.
“The exclusion of representative voices and the distortion of original proposals make room for setbacks, especially in the taxation of high rents, social guarantees and the rights of the middle class,” says the four -page document.
The petition signs entities such as CUT (Single Workers’ Central), MST (Landless Rural Workers Movement), INESC (Institute of Socioeconomic Studies), Sustainable Cities Institute, USP and at least ten federal universities.
The signatories list four points of concern: the absence of popular participation (two public hearings occurred without civil entities), the emptying of the original propressive taxation proposal of the richest, consequently, the burden of the middle class.
They then ask for the publication of a schedule of project processing, official estimates of impact by income range, the improvement of measures aimed at taxation of high rents and the rejection of proposals that limit the deductions of medical expenses.
According to Oxfam, Deputy Rubens Jr. received the document, said the house will analyze the contributions and said that “the participation of organizations is fundamental to a balanced debate.”
