Khaby Lame, Tiktok’s most popular personality worldwide, with millions of followers, left the US after being detained by Las Vegas immigration agents as supposedly exceeding the shelha’s validity period.
Senegal-Italian digital influencer, whose legal name is Khabane Lame Sernge, was arrested on Friday at Harry Reid International Airport, but was allowed to leave the country without a deportation order, a spokesman confirmed immigration and customs service in a statement.
Lame arrived in the United States on April 30 and “exceeded his visa’s validity period,” Ice spokesman said, the US federal agency subordinate to the internal security department. Associated Press has sent a message to request comments on Tuesday to the email address on the Lame Account on Instagram. Lame did not publicly comment on his detention.
The US detention and exit from the US occurs during the growing repression of President Donald Trump to immigration, including days on the edge of protests in Los Angeles against the ICE, while the president tests the boundaries of his executive authority.
A voluntary exit – such as the one granted to Lame – allows those facing the US output order to avoid a deportation order in their immigration record, which can prevent them from returning to the country for a decade.
The 25 -year -old reached international fame during the pandemic without ever saying a word in his videos, which showed him to react to absurdly complicated “life tricks.” Lame has over 162 million followers in Tiktok alone.
The senegal-born influencer moved with his parents to Italy as a child. The parents were working class and had Italian citizenship.
His fame on the internet grew rapidly and Lame signed a several -year partnership with the Hugo Boss brand in 2022. In January, he was appointed Unicef’s goodwill ambassador.
Last month, he attended the Met Gala in New York, days after arriving in the US.
