The second federal criminal court of Argentina, which sentenced Cristina Kirchner to six years in prison and the perpetual ban to hold public office, ordered on Tuesday (10) that the former president is expected to present to court within five business days to be arrested.
In a decree issued after the confirmation of the sentence by the Supreme Court, the Federal Court established that the deadline is sufficient for convicted in the case that live in other provinces can present themselves to the court for the judgment.
As next Monday (16) is a holiday in Argentina, the deadline for the presentation of the convicts wins next Wednesday (18).
Kirchner was sentenced by fraudulent administration to the detriment of the Union, for the alleged favor of entrepreneurs in 51 bids of road works in Santa Cruz, southern Argentina, during his presidential terms (2007-2015).
The province of Santa Cruz is the homeland of her late husband and former president Nestor Kirchner and that’s where the two performed – he as governor and she as legislator.
After the three Supreme Court judges, Horacio Rosatti, Carlos Rosenkrantz and Ricardo Lorenzetti, unanimously return against the appeal filed by the former president against the sentence against her.
The former president denies participation in the irregularities and denounces judicial persecution for political purposes.
In a speech to supporters after confirming the sentence, Kirchner said that “this judicial process has a wonderful electoral schedule.” She refers to the deputy for the province of Buenos Aires in the local elections of 7 September.
