Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass declared a state of emergency and imposed a touch of collecting in the city center after a climb of protests against US immigration and control operations (ICE) and the sending of federal troops ordered by President Donald Trump.
The measure is valid from 20h to 6h and applies to an area of only 2.5 square kilometers, where, according to the city, there was “widespread vandalism” and damage to trades. “If you do not live or work in the center, stay away. Anyone who violates the touch of gathering will be arrested,” warned Bass.
Military mobilization has an estimated cost of US $ 134 million to the public coffers, according to the Pentagon, and has generated criticism from local authorities and protesters.

On Tuesday night (10), a group of protesters briefly blocked the busy highway 101. The mayor said she will consult police authorities to decide whether the collection touch will be kept in the coming days.
The tension grew after statements by President Trump, who accused – without proof – California governor Gavin Newsom, and mayor Bass of “paying agitators and insurreists” to incite the protests. Hours later, the president denied having made such accusations, although videos show otherwise.
At the same time, the state government went to court asking for an injunction to restrict the use of federal troops in the state, but the request was initially denied. An audience about the case is scheduled for this Thursday (12).
