In the early months of his term, entrepreneur was an advisor to the Presidency and coordinated the actions to reduce the spending of the Federal Administration
Moganta, a former advisor, said on Wednesday that he regrets some of his recent criticism of the US President, with whom she starred last week a series of attacks of great repercussion. “I regret some of my posts about President @realdonaldtrump last week. They went too far,” Musk wrote on his social network platform X. The Expression of Musk’s lamentation, also CEO of Tesla and Spacex, happened a few days after Trump claiming that the billionaire had “lost his head” and threatening to terminate subsidies and government contracts with their companies. The businessman born in South Africa supported and funded Trump’s campaign. In the early months of his term, Musk was an advisor to the presidency and coordinated the actions to reduce the spending of the federal administration.
After the government’s departure from the government, however, the two men starred in a virulent public discussion through social media messages, with personal and professional criticism. Musk criticized the budget bill promoted by Trump, which is currently being debated in Congress, claiming that he has significantly increased the country’s deficit. Some congressmen against the law asked Musk to finance as a primary against the Republicans who voted for the legislation. “It will pay very serious consequences if you do this,” Trump told NBC on Saturday, without specifying the consequences and calling the technological tycoon “disrespectful.” The Republican also stated that he did not want to resume his relationship with Musk and “had no intention to talk to him.”
“I wish the best”
In his message on Wednesday, Musk did not explain what criticism of Trump were “too far away.” The owner of the social network X made a first gesture over the weekend, when he deleted a post published in X during the height of his dispute with Trump. In the message, Musk accused the Republican President of being involved in the case Jeffrey Epstein, an American investor accused of sexual crimes that committed suicide in prison in 2019. Musk also deleted other publications he wrote or included, including one that called for Donald Trump’s impeachment as president of the United States. The former Alleades were cut their bows in a friendly manner two weeks ago, when Trump said goodbye to Musk with praise when the businessman left office at the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge).
But the relationship was broken a few days later, when the technology sector tycoon described the budget bill as an “abomination” that, in case of congressional approval, could define Trump’s second term. The president responded to Musk’s comments with criticism at the Oval Hall and, from there, the dispute became even more serious. “Elon and I have a great relationship. I don’t know if we will continue to have. I was surprised,” he told the press. Musk, who was the biggest donor of Trump’s presidential campaign in 2024, addressed the theme of the Republican’s electoral victory.
“Without me, Trump would have lost the elections,” said the businessman, who contributed almost $ 300 million ($ 1.67 billion in the current price) to the campaign before accusing the agent of “ingratitude.” Next, the Republican announced on its social Truth platform that cut billions of dollars in government subsidies and contracts with Musk companies would be “the easiest way to save money” from US taxpayers. Faced with the political and economic risks of the confrontation, both seemed to retreat on Friday. “I only wish him the best,” Trump told reporters, to which Musk answered at X: “I say the same.”
