The Police Station to Combat Criminal Organizations and Money Laundering (DCOC-LD) launched, on Wednesday (11), an operation to dismantle a criminal group responsible for TRAFFICKING OF ARMORS AND DRUGS which supplies the Viradouro complex in Niterói, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro.

According to investigations, the scheme is controlled directly by the Red Command, which aims to ensure the constant supply of weapons and narcotics to local communities. The operation, which involves compliance with court warrants, occurs simultaneously in Niterói, São Gonçalo and Itaboraí, in Rio de Janeiro, and also in the state of Santa Catarina, with the support of the Santa Catarina Civil Police.

The targets of the action are individuals and commercial establishments that participate in the logistics of transportation of illicit material to the urban centers of Rio de Janeiro. According to investigations, some companies located in Niterói and São Gonçalo are used to mask payments made to gun and drug suppliers, making it difficult to identify illegal financial movements.

According to the Civil Police, in addition to the arrest of those involved, the operation aims to grasp values, documents and electronic devices that can deepen the investigations.

To date, the corporation has not disclosed the number of arrests or seizures held.
