Federal Deputy Socorro Neri (PP-AC) announced on Wednesday (11) the approval of an application to the Education Commission of the House of Representatives to hold a public hearing in Acre. The goal is to discuss the challenges of supply of school education in remote and isolated areas of the state.
The announcement was made through a video released on the parliamentarian’s social networks, in response to the article aired by the Fantástico program last Sunday (9), which showed the difficulties faced by students and teachers in rural and riverside communities from Acre and caused a removal of Education Secretary, Aberson Carvalho.

Currently, Acre has 260 school attachments – makeshift structures linked to rural schools – serving communities in difficult -to -reach regions. According to the deputy, about 50% of these attachments work with up to six students, which shows the need to reassess the way teaching is offered in these locations.
“It is necessary to seek solutions that guarantee more dignity to students and improve the quality of education. We can not leave any students without access to school,” said Neri in the video. She also pointed out that, although old, the situation requires a new approach, focusing on the inclusion and efficiency of the educational service.
The parliamentarian stressed that the meeting will be an opportunity to gather all the entities involved to discuss viable and sustainable alternatives to improve teaching in isolated regions. “We will do this together at this public hearing. Soon, I will disclose the date,” he said.
