President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini is trying to be an endless. However, it is in a disadvantage. For TASR, this was stated by the Smer-SD coalition party as part of the first year of Pellegrini as Head of State. She pointed out his previous work in the leadership of the coalition voice-SD and Parliament.
“President Peter Pellegrini is trying to be an endless position, but he is in a disadvantageous position, since when the government’s program statement was adopted, he was chairman of the Voice-SD party and chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic.
At the same time, Smer-SD declared that it respects if the head of state returns some laws to parliament for re-negotiation. “Pellegrini’s speech on the state of the Republic in the National Council of the Slovak Republic was more likely to match the expectations of the opposition than the coalition”He said.
Peter Pellegrini took the presidential office on 15 June 2024. Before his election, he served as chairman of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic and the leader of the coalition voice. Zuzana Čaputová was replaced by Zuzana Čaputová.
