Boeing released, on Thursday, 12, a new statement about the accident involving a 787 Dreamliner aircraft, bound for London, which fell shortly after taking off from the Indian city of Ahmedabad. The manufacturer said she was in contact with Air India on flight 171 and ready to offer support.
“Our thoughts are with passengers, crew, rescuers and all affected,” says Boeing, by means of a note. Earlier, the company issued another short statement that it claimed to be aware of the reports and collecting more information.
The AI 171 flight, bound for Gatwick airport in London, fell into the residential area known as Meghani Nagar five minutes after taking off at 1:38 pm local time, the Civil Aviation Board Director, Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, to Associated Press. There were 232 passengers and 12 crew members on board, according to the spokesman.

“With deep regret, I confirm that Air India flight 171, which went from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, was involved in a tragic accident today,” said Air India President Natarajan ChandraSekaran.
This is the first accident of a Boeing 787 aircraft, according to the Aviation Safety Network database. Boeing shares retreated about 6% earlier at New York’s pre-market.
