Transfers and payments via MB Way have become a daily habit for thousands of users in Portugal. However, this year new rules have entered into force that impose specific limits for those who use this application. It is important to know them to avoid unpleasant surprises.
According to the official MB Way application website, there are two distinct types of boundaries: one for payments and one for transfers between users. These limits have been updated this year and apply to all transactions made on the platform, as explained by the Minuto News.
Limits for payments with MB Way
Payment limits concern the maximum amount that can be used in purchases, both in physical and online stores, including transactions with QR Code, NFC and MB Way Pulse.
The maximum daily value allowed is 10,000 euros. This means that, in a single day, it is possible to spend to this amount using any of the payment methods supported by the application.
The weekly limit is 70,000 euros, which represents the utmost accumulated payments that can make in a period of seven consecutive days.
Limits for money transfers
The rules change when it comes to transfers, as the same source explains. In this case, the daily limit to send money is 2,000 euros. Once this value is exceeded, you will need to wait until the next day to make new transfers.
There is no monthly limit to send money, which means that the user can make several transfers throughout the month as long as he does not exceed the daily ceiling.
Transfers reception also has a limit
The reception of money is also subject to rules. According to the publication, each user can receive up to 5,000 euros per month or, alternatively, up to 50 monthly transfers.
Exceeded one of these parameters, you will need to wait until the following month to receive amounts via MB Way again.

Limits apply to all banks
These limits are not defined by each bank, but by the MB Way service, applying transverse to all adherent financial entities.
Therefore, regardless of the bank where you have an account, these rules will always be in force if you use this platform to send, receive or pay.
Consulting the boundaries helps to avoid blockages
To avoid unexpected restrictions or application blockages, it is advisable to regularly consult the defined limits and monitor transacted values, especially in periods of greater financial movement.
Staying informed about these changes can make a difference between a successful transaction or a refused operation at the least convenient time, as the news to the minute suggests.
About MB Way
In addition to sending and receiving money features, MB Way also allows you to associate multiple bank cards with the same account, generate virtual cards for online purchases and even conduct surveys in ATM boxes without the need for the physical card.
These options have contributed to application growth as one of the most used digital payment solutions in Portugal, reinforcing their usefulness in consumers’ daily lives.
MB Way was launched in 2014, the result of a SIBS initiative, with the aim of facilitating payments and transfers through the mobile phone.
Since then, the application has been evolving continuously, incorporating new features and becoming one of the most popular digital tools among banking users in Portugal.
