Russia cannot be convinced to proceed to peace, it must be forced to do so, and this will not work without sufficient economic pressure. In an online speech at the Globsec Forum Security Conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Greenable said it on Thursday. He called on the guests to support a significant tightening of anti -Russian sanctions, informs TASR newsletter in Prague.
“There are forms of pressure that are harmful to those who are in power. I ask you to support a significant tightening of sanctions against Russia. Our goal must be significantly reduced by Russia’s oil revenue,” said Greeding, adding that it can weaken the Russian budget. According to him, he will not be reversed in Ukraine without such pressure.
Russia’s security regime
“Russia is worried about money, the so -called prestige in foreign policy and our resistance, but it does not care about the lives of millions of its own people,” he said, saying that Ukraine must face a regime that treats human life as worthless. “When life for those who are in power means nothing, then there is no crime, not even total aggression,” the Ukrainian president described the attitude of Russia.
According to him, the war is becoming more technologically demanding and uses various drones whose production is going to strengthen Russia significantly. According to him, this also wants Ukraine, and although it already has sufficient capacity in its factories, it lacks its finances. He turned to Europe to build on the production of drones with urgentness.
Technological challenges of war
“We have to strengthen all forms of defense cooperation, especially those that help us become technologically more advanced and use drones of every kind – in the air, on land and sea … We must be faster and stronger than our enemies,” stressed the Ukrainian president.
According to him, Ukraine means security guarantees for Europe today. “Of course, NATO is a reliable ally, but the fact that Ukraine stands and does not allow the war to spread further is a strong security guarantee for the whole of Europe,” he added.
The conference is personally attended by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha and other politicians from Ukraine.
