The PL leader in the House, Gostenes Cavalcante (RJ), said on Thursday (12) that will verify the possibility that the deputies can approve, at the same time, the overthrow of the two government decrees related to the tax on financial operations (IOF). The statements occurred after a meeting of House leaders on Thursday morning.
According to bench leaders, if the new IOF decree is overthrown, the previous decree is valid, which the opposition considers it as “worsening.” Thus, according to Sostenes, the opposition will also act to overthrow the previous decree.
“Taking down this decree on the merits will be worth the decree that is worse, last week. Including the government owes to the society of how much it has raised with the previous decree,” said Sostenes, who continued: “We are willing to overthrow the (decree) this dawn and last week, because the taxpayer cannot continue to be stolen by this irresponsible government that does not want to contain spending.”

The PL leader said that if the new decree will be approved, it will be necessary to “go up” of the previous decree immediately. “We are seeing with the advisory of the House if it would be possible a ‘attachment’ to, in one vote, we bring down both (decrees). Not being possible, we will vote for both, because we will not accept as opposition that the tax burden is increased as a magical solution,” he said.
During the meeting, the mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), decided to include in the Plenary’s agenda the vote of a Legislative Decree Project (PDL) to support the presidential decree that published new rules on the IOF, with a “recalibration” of the previously established measures and caused poor repercussion in Congress.
According to deputies present at the meeting, it is not yet decided whether the merit of the PDL will be voted. The vote on urgency should occur on Monday (16).
