Japan, like other countries, especially with a rich history, has its superstitions and superstitions. About Slavic rituals, at least those more popular many of us have heard, but Japanese are much less known, and one of them is undoubtedly sweet and is to bring a lot of happiness. The dessert for the prosperity was mochi.
Mochi is a cake that has gained considerable popularity in Poland, It is made of a special variety of ricewhich is short, sweet and sticky. Under the influence of water, it turns into a mass from which the balls are usually formed, but they can also have other shapes. Sometimes a filling is also put into them.
Most often they are eaten sweet, but they also occur in salty formthen they are also served with soy sauce. During the first try, the consistency of this dessert may seem specific, in Poland it is difficult to try mochi for something that we know. The most popular variety is Daifuku in Japanese, this means “great happiness”, they can be white, pink or green and have a sweet paste filling.

In the past, this dessert was not served in almost every Japanese restaurant, on the contrary it was prepared only for special occasions. Mainly it was an important event like the New Year or a wedding. At that time, these delicacies were eaten, believing that it would ensure happiness. Why such a dessert and not another? First of all, it was due to the consistency. Mochs are very sticky and pulling, eating it on holidays or an important event in the family’s life, was to ensure the strength “glued like a cake” relationship with his family. Thanks to this, the relatives were to be able to rely and stick to them as tight as the Moch’s rice particles.
Currently, this tradition is disappearing, but superstition is still alive in Japan, many families are still preparing home -made MOCHI during important celebrations and consume them with their family to improve relationships not only with loved ones, but from fate.
