These are the worst aviation accidents ever (in a list that now has the Air India plane)

Twin towers, a shock on land or an air collision: the worst disasters of aviation

Which did not complete a minute of a flight that should last almost 10 hours just joined a black list. Even though they still have to know how many people have died for sure, police confirmation that there are more than 290 deadly victims shoot this accident to the top of the worst.

The twin towers

A list headed by the two flights that collided with the two World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001, in an attack that killed nearly three thousand people in the United States.

The American Airlines 11 and the United Airlines 175 collided with the two New York towers, which Osama Bin Laden understood that they were symbols of US capitalism.

In addition to the various passengers and crew members on board, the clash caused deaths to hundreds of people working in the towers. Then, and on the frenzy of trying to rescue as many victims, several firefighters, police and others were caught in the tragedy.

The world of aviation, we know, changed after that day.

AM bread, frontal shock

The scenario of a shock between two planes is almost unthinkable. Because it seems impossible to happen, but above all because it is difficult to imagine its dimension in terms of victims.

But this was possible to realize in 1977, when the largest air disaster in history was given, if we talk about accidents related exclusively to the air operation – which excludes September 11, which had third party involvement of terrorists.

A combination of factors originated an explosive cocktail that caught a Pan AM plane and another KLM in the middle, killing 583 people, after one of the devices shaking the other while taking off.

On a day of intense fog, air traffic became completely chaotic after a bomb exploded at the main airport of Grande Canaria. Tenerife then had to receive the great planes that ended up diverted. One of them was Pan AM, who was fully shattered by KLM.

In the middle was a total communication failure of an airport that was not prepared for such traffic, which ademed the problems of a place with almost zero visibility because of the fog.

The Dutch plane accelerated at full speed and burst into the middle of the American. Despite the tragedy, 61 people survived on the front side of the Pan AM plane.

Full uncontrolle

It was on a domestic flight between Tokyo and Osaka that Japan lived its worst air disaster, one of the worst in the world.

After a structural failure that the pilots still tried to contain, 520 people eventually died.

This summer of 1985 there were four miracles: survivors who resisted the injuries and stayed to tell the story.

As in so many other cases, it is known that the failure arose after Boeing technicians did not properly repair a damage to the tail of the plane seven years earlier. This same failure eventually gave in, leading to the rapid decompression of the plane, which caused the loss of hydraulic systems and later all flight controls.

It is, even today, the worst disaster to involve only an airplane that was due to a structural failure in mechanics.

Air collision

It’s rare, very rare, but it happened once disastrously. Two Saudia and Kazakhstan Airlines planes collided on the way, causing death to all 349 occupants of both devices.

Despite not involving Indian aircraft, the 1996 accident took place in India airspace. The Saudia plane was leaving Nova Delhi, while the Kazakh was coming. They eventually collided in the air after communication errors between the pilots of the two aircraft and the air controller that accompanied both calls.

These are the five most deadly air accidents ever, in a list that, up to the always 10 accidents ever, starts to include the flight of the Air India that drew this Thursday. A list that includes, for example, the Malaysian Airlines plane that was shot down by pro-Russian separatists during the Donbass passage. That day, in 2014, 298 people died.

Among the ten most deadly ever there is still a Turkish Airlines accident in 1974 (346 dead), one from Air India in 1985 (239 dead) and one of Saudia in 1980 (301).
