In many cases, strawberries are sold in stores previously treated with plant protection products. It turns out that without pesticides, only fruits coming from ecological farms, but we do not always have the opportunity to buy them.
So how to recognize sprayed strawberries? Just do a simple test using vinegar and soda bicarbonate.
- First prepare a larger bowl or pot.
- Pour a solution of water and vinegar into the container (3: 1, ie 3 parts of water and 1 part of vinegar).
- Place the strawberries into this solution.
- Leave them soaked for 5 minutes.
- After this time, fold the strawberry into the second solution – this time from the water and one teaspoon of soda bicarbonate. Leave the strawberries again for 5 minutes.
- If water changes color or cloudy during the dipping of strawberries in a vinegar or soda solution, there is a high probability that they have been sprayed. Finally, the strawberries should be thoroughly rinsed under running water.
