The Times of Israel (Toi) reported that part of the Iranian public is unable to predict the further development of the situation. While many prefer the security of their homes, others went to the streets on Friday and demanded revenge for the victims and military retaliation against Israel.

Mass protests in Tehran

The protests, which was also broadcast by Iranian state television, were heard slogans such as “the death of Israel, the death of America”. The demonstrators expressed their support for the highest spiritual leader Ajatollah Ali Chamennei and demanded death for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“We cannot allow this bastard to continue-otherwise we will end up like Gaza,” said AFP 52-year-old Tehran Abbas Ahmadi from behind the steering wheel of his car. “Iran must destroy it, he has to do something,” he added.

In addition to the protests, Tehran streets were mostly depopulated on Friday, except for the advice that was created at petrol stations, a typical phenomenon during crisis situations.

Air transport at the Imam Chomejni International Airport was stopped, as in the surrounding region.

Israeli attacks on nuclear targets

Israel on Friday, June 13, launched the first series of his “preventive strokes” against military and nuclear targets in Iran. The highest spiritual leader of Chamenei subsequently warned that Israel “had to expect a strict punishment”.

The attack occurred at a time when negotiations between the United States and Iran about its nuclear program, which began in mid -April, were stuck in a dead end. Tehran rejects Washington’s demand for the enrichment of uranium, repeatedly claiming that its nuclear program has exclusively peaceful targets.

Several high -ranking commanders of the Iranian armed forces, including the Chief of General Staff Mohammad Bagheri and the chief commander of the Iranian revolutionary guards Hosejn Salámi, also died in the attack. There are also at least six nuclear research experts among the victims.
