History of Al Ahly
Al Ahly was founded on April 24, 1907. The 118 -year -old team is located in Cairo, Egypt. The name of the team translates to Portuguese as “national”.
The name was chosen due to the nationalist feeling of the Egyptian founders in reaction to the English, who occupied the country at the time.
Al Ahly emerged as an organization for students to discuss police, play sports and exercise. The first stadium of the team was opened in 1909, with the first official football team playing in 1911.
Al Ahly uses red and white colors by the club’s shield was inspired by the Egyptian Sultanate flag, red with socks and white stars.

In 2020, Al Ahly’s shield was chosen by the Spanish newspaper “Brand” as the second most beautiful in the world.
The team is the African team with more fans on social networks, totaling 33 million.
Al Ahly is also the African team with the most titles of the African Champions League, with 12 achievements, seven more than Zamalek, the team’s main rival in Egypt and the continent.
The number makes Al Ahly the second team in the world with the most international titles, behind only Real Madrid.
The team is also the biggest Egyptian champion, with 45 trophies, with Zamalek in second place, with 14 achievements.
