Iran on Thursday (12.jun.2025) the death of Hossein Salami, commander of the country’s revolutionary guard, in an air strike led by Israel against the capital Tehran. Salami was one of the most influential figures of the Iranian Armed Forces.

Revolutionary guard is considered the most powerful military force of Iran. Created after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, its function is to protect regime leaders and ensure government security.

The occurred during the night of this Thursday (12.jun), according to Iranian state TV. Explosions were recorded in different parts of the capital.

After the attack, Israel’s Minister of Defense, Israel Katz, decreed a special state of emergency throughout Israeli. According to him, there is an imminent risk of retaliation from Iran, with possible attacks with missiles and drones in the next few hours.

Israel’s defense forces recommended the suspension of non -essential activities from Friday (13.jun). Classes were canceled, events with suspended crowds and companies oriented to interrupt the operation. The country’s airspace was also closed.

In a statement, the Israeli army stated that the attack was necessary in the face of the threat represented by the Iranian regime.

“Weapons of mass destruction in the hands of the Iranian regime are an existential threat to the state of Israel and for the rest of the world.”he declared. The government also said it will continue to act to protect its population “Whenever necessary”.
