President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) said on Thursday (12) that there is a “climate of anger in the air” in the National Congress. He criticized parliamentarians who use social networks “to speak silly.”
Without citing names, the statement was made during an event in Mariana (MG), homeland of federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), which, the day before, Fernando Haddad.
“There are deputy who does not want to talk, he just wants to take his cell phone, look in his face, speak a nonsense and move on,” said Lula, criticizing the parliamentary performance based on social networks.

The statement takes place amid the growing tension between the executive and the Chamber’s pocket wing, intensified after the public hearing with Minister Fernando Haddad on Wednesday (11).
During the session, deputies Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) and Carlos Jordy (PL-RJ) interrupted the work and left the room before hearing the minister’s response.
“It’s just to appear. The person says, ‘Now I’m a deputy for real, I’m going to be serious with you.’ And then run out of here, don’t want to hear the explanation. This kind of attitude is not good,” Haddad reacted, classifying the action of parliamentarians as “molecage”.

Lula also lamented what he called “discomfort between humanity” and associated this environment with the spread of lies in the networks. “There is a lot of intrigue, a lot of hatred, a lot of curse. Even in the chamber, the mood is very bad,” he said. “People are learning to live on lies. Everyone here knows: the truth trigger, the lie flies.”
A frequent critic of social networks, Lula sees in them a fertile ground for the advancement of misinformation, especially among figures with great digital influence, such as Nikolas.

The president’s speech was made during the formalization ceremony of the repair agreements by the rupture of the Samarco dam, which took place in 2015, also in Mariana.
In the midst of the environmental and social theme, Lula took the opportunity to make broader criticism of the political environment, intensifying clashes with sectors of the most radical opposition.
