The court on Thursday (12) the arrest of Antonio Espaillat, a member of the family owner that collapsed in Santo Domingo two months ago, leaving more than 200 dead. Espaillat is the first detained for the tragedy at the Jet Set nightclub, which collapsed at dawn on April 8 during a concert by the popular merengue singer Rubby Pérez, who died on the spot.
His lawyer, Miguel Valerio, reported on the prison without providing details about the accusations made against him. The powerful 59 -year -old businessman leads the local owner, as well as a media conglomerate and a restaurant. Espaillat attended a session called by the Attorney General’s Office, accompanied by Valerio and his sister. “The Espaillat family was clear in stating that it is open to cooperate with the investigation,” Valerio told the press when he arrived in the prosecutor.
