Israel launched a vast military offensive against Iran at dawn on Friday – the so -called “Crescent Lion Operation”. Aerial attacks aimed at nuclear facilities, military leaders and scientists linked to the Iranian nuclear program, according to Israeli authorities.
So far, there are at least 78 confirmed dead, among high military responsible and Iranian scientists. Israel states that the operation has been intended to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear bomb and ensures that it does not need help to defend itself.
Iran was surprised, although the information pointed out a few days ago for a possible military action. For this Sunday a new round of negotiations between the US and Iran over the nuclear program was scheduled, which made the attack even more unexpected.
The United Nations Atomic Agency condemned the attack on nuclear facilities.
According to Israeli Prime Minister, the United States has been previously informed about the attacks, which intend to protect Israel from an Iranian nuclear threat. The operation led years to be prepared and included collaboration on the land of Mossad agents, Israeli secret services.
Iran, in response, launched about all intercepted by the Israelite defenses, according to the Israeli government.
