Why is Israel attacking Iran right now? Is this time the Middle East Total War? (questions and answers)

It is not the first war between the old enemies in the Middle East – Israel and Iran.

When the Israeli aviation made air attacks on the Islamic Republic this morning, the world was much more wary. Some analysts and politicians are afraid that the Middle East is on the Prague of something they call the “total war” that can spread to other countries of the region.

What is this in this conflict? Here are questions and answers.

What did the current attack and counterattack look like?

Israel began an attack on Iran focused on dozens of goals, including its nuclear facilities, military commanders and scientists. The attack justifies that Tehran, according to Israeli secret services, “started to produce nuclear warheads”. The main attack was supposed to take place on Iran’s Natanz, where Iran enriches Uranus.

Iran is most likely not to own nuclear weapons, but has been operating a nuclear program for many years. He claims that for peaceful purposes. The West suspects that it enriches Uranus so intensely that it is only a matter of several years before he manages to construct nuclear ammunition. In the past, Israel has probably murdered several Iranian nuclear scientists and has targeted them now – according to Western media, he killed six of them during the current attacks.

Israel officially does not have nuclear weapons, but is most likely to have them and it is a “public secret”. In the Middle East, this is probably the only nuclear “power”. Only a handful of countries have nuclear weapons – except for the US, only the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Pakistan, India, China and North Korea.

Iran responded counterattacks when he fired about a hundred drones to Israel.

What were the reactions?

Iran’s highest leader Ali Khamenei threatened “strict punishment” against Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the aim of the Israeli attack, which calls the “awakening lion”, is “to reverse the Iranian threat to Israel’s survival itself,” and added that it will take “many days”.

“We hit the heart of the Iranian nuclear weapon program. We focused on the main Iranian uranium enrichment facility in Nanza. We focused on leading Iranian nuclear scientists working on an Iranian bomb. We also intervened the core of the Iranian ballistic missile program.”

Israeli strikes on Iran show that US President Donald Trump is unable to limit Netanyahu and the Middle East moves closer to chaos, analysts say.

American officials only responded by having nothing to do with Israel’s attack on Iran.

What does the analyst say?

“This Israeli attack against the Iranian goal was significantly different from the previous measurement of the forces between Israel and Iran, which was reflected in the form of mutual symbolic military events,” says Associate Professor Atilla Kovács, an expert at the Middle East of Comenius University.

“Now the aim was not only the sites of the Iranian nuclear program, but also high -ranking military commanders, nuclear physicists and academics, as well as civilian objects. It is a significant escalation in the Middle East with an impact,” he thinks.

As he adds, for nearly two years of the ongoing war in Gaza, the inhabitants of the region and the states of the region see Israel as a country, “which, thanks to the radical decisions of Netanyahu and his domestic and foreign allies, has become the main aggressor that bully and terrorize its neighbors”.

“Further development of the situation now depends on the decision of the Iranian regime in terms of retaliation, but also on how the United States is preserved in this situation,” Kovács adds.

Why do Iran and Israel “like”?

This is mainly due to Hamas support. Although this Palestinian militant movement is the Sunni and Iranian regime of the Shoit, Tehran supports it both militarily and financially. In order to destabilize Israel, the only predominantly “non -Muslim” country of the region.

Last year, Iran was one of the loudest critics of Israeli bombing Gaza. This is in line with its consistent anti -Sraelmic foreign policy. These two Middle Eastern countries are therefore often described as the largest arch -enemies in the Middle East.

The Palestinian question has been in the center of the conflict of both countries for decades, and Tehran warns Israel and his closest ally, the United States that the war with Hamas could expand, as Israel escalated attacks outside Gaza. Israel bombed positions in Lebanon and Syria, two countries where Tehran has a significant impact.

Last July in Tehran, the political chief Hamas Ismail was murdered by Hanija in the explosion that Hamas and Iran were accused by Israel. Later, Israeli missiles killed Hassan Nasrallah’s long -time leader of Hizbollah in Lebanese.

Lebanese Hezbollah and Palestinian Hamas are two of Iran’s closest allies.

But the dominance of Shiite Iran is also afraid of many Arab countries, mostly mostly Sunni, including the oil superpower of Saudi Arabia.

Why is Israel attacking Nanz?

The Nanza device produces the vast majority of Iran’s nuclear fuel, and in the last three years, most of the fuel of almost bomb quality, thanks to which the country is on the threshold of nuclear weapons production.

There are no news yet whether there were other important Iranian uranium enrichment facilities. Many of them are buried deep in the ground and Israel would have to use the most powerful bombs and missiles to attack them.

Will it be a great war?

According to analysts, the conflict between Israel and Tehran can take several days or weeks to answer one of the most serious questions about the attack on Iranian facilities: How long has Israel hampered the Iranian nuclear program?

“If the program is delayed only a year or two, it may seem that Israel has taken a huge risk for a relatively short -term delay. And these risks include not only the possibility of long -lasting war, but also that Iran withdraws from the covenant of nuclear weapons, moves its program to the underground and a weapon.”

History suggests that such attacks have unpredictable results, the American newspaper adds in the analysis. “Even the most brilliant attack on the (Iranian nuclear) program 15 years ago – cyber attack, which put malicious software into the system and destroyed the centrifug – slowed Iran for only a year or two.
