The City of Rio Branco should hold the second edition of the Macaxeira Festival in September. The announcement was made by Mayor Tião Bocalom, who confirmed changes in the format of the event, created in (2024), with the objective of valuing the Macaxeira production chain and strengthening the capital’s agricultural sector.

According to the mayor, this year’s festival will be more technical and focused on business promotion, focusing on the exhibition of products derived from Macaxeira, tastings and demonstrations of what is produced in the countryside.
“We want people to go to the Macaxeira Festival to see the products, taste and know the agricultural culture that is part of the history of the Acre people,” said Bocalom. “It will not be a venue. We want it to be an event that truly represents what is Macaxeira and everything it represents for our agriculture,” he added.

The manager explained that the decision to change the format came after visits to other rural fairs, such as Rondônia Rural Show, which are focused exclusively on business in the productive sector. “This is what we want here too: an event that strengthens local producers and shows the advances of City Hall in agriculture and livestock,” he said.
In addition to the derivatives of Macaxeira, such as flour, tapioca, cakes and sweets, the event should also present other agricultural products in the region, such as rice, corn, beans, milk and meat, with space for commercialization and exposure of initiatives supported by the municipal government.
The first edition of the Macaxeira Festival was held between July 24 and 29, (2024), at the Arena da Floresta space, in Rio Branco, with cultural programming, product fair and participation of rural entrepreneurs. For this year, the city intends to decentralize musical attractions and turn the event into a showcase for producers, companies and consumers.
The official date and the place will still be confirmed, but the city has already started the preparations to ensure the festival in the second half. The goal, according to Tião Bocalom, is to make the event a reference in the local agriculture calendar and an opportunity to expand income generation in the countryside.
