BR-317 remains banned on Saturday (14) by rural producers protesting against the Sujuarana Operation, triggered by the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio). The mobilization takes place at the junction of the municipality of Xapuri, interior of Acre, and is motivated by the estate embargo within the Chico Mendes Extractive Reserve, as well as the forecast of eviction of families living and producing in the region for years.

Under the strong sun, farmers, men, women, youth and the elderly took the federal highway in a peaceful but determined act. The protest occurs under the surveillance of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) and the National Force, triggered to ensure order and avoid confrontation.
Protesters claim immediate suspension of the operation and the opening of dialogue with the federal government. According to them, the actions of ICMBio are reaching traditional residents of the reserve, many of whom have lived in the place for decades, developing agro -extractive activities that, they say, respect the environment and support their families.

Blocking prevents the passage of vehicles in both directions, except for ambulances, vehicles with patients and perishable loads, which are being released after screening.
The interdiction is already beginning to bring direct impacts on the population. Internet users of municipalities before Xapuri had said the report of the ContilNet that are unable to arrive at Epitaciolândia, where a public tender will be held this Sunday (15). Many candidates say that if the road remains blocked, they will not be able to attend the venue, generating great concern among the subscribers.
Operation Suçuarana, according to ICMBio, aims to curb irregular occupations and illegal activities within the conservation unit. However, residents claim that actions are being carried out without due social and legal support, affecting legally established families.
Mobilization should continue until producers get a concrete response from the government.
