Parliamentarian is on Interpol’s red list, but her name was not in the relationship when she entered Italy; Minister of Justice says that it is already known where the deputy is
The Minister of Justice, said on Friday (13) that the Brazilian government already has an idea of where is the federal deputy (PL-SP), currently fugitive in Italy, and that extradition should occur “soon”. The parliamentarian was sentenced by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to ten years in prison for the invasion of the systems of the National Council of Justice (), supported by hacker Walter Delgatti Netto.
Lewandowski mentioned, during an event on public safety in Sao Paulo, the cooperation treaty between Brazil and Italy, citing the case of the former alleys, extradited in 2018. According to him, the double nationality of Zambelli, who has an Italian passport, would not prevent extradition. “There is already some idea where she is and we imagine that soon will be extradited,” said the minister.
The speech contrasts with the information released by the Italian government. The Deputy Minister of the Interior, Wanda Ferro, told the local parliament that, so far, the Italian police could not locate Zambelli. According to her, the parliamentarian landed in Rome on June 5, coming from the United States, but entered the country with an Italian passport before the inclusion of the name in the Red List of Interpol.
The international alert of capture was only released about five hours after Zambelli’s arrival at Fiumicino airport, which prevented its detention at the time of landing. Since then, its location has been unknown. According to the Brazilian Ambassador in Rome, Renato Mosca, Zambelli can be arrested in public or non -inviolable places, although there is no specific court order for his detention in Italy. Extradition has already been accepted by the Italian authorities, but the arrest depends exclusively on local police action.
Meanwhile, the deputy’s political situation is also worsened. On Tuesday (10), the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), referred to the plenary the analysis of the loss of term of Zambelli, following the conviction imposed by the STF.
