The president (PT) launched this Saturday (14) the extension of the warning system for 36 cities of the Northeast, a region that until then was not met by the service.
Cell phones in these places will receive alerts of natural disasters or other incidents monitored by the Civil Defense, without registration. The service already serves other regions, such as municipalities of the South and Southeast, and by the end of the year the government promises to implement it in the rest of the country.
Lula stated that the National Center for Risk and Disaster Management was created in 2005 and that “things sometimes take longer than we imagine” to be ready.
“A lot of people think Brazil is unprepared, that Brazil does not know how to do things. We are creating a center that puts us in the forefront of a public policy of defense of life,” he said.
The service ceremony took place in Brasilia, with online participation of the governor of Paraíba, João Azevedo (PSB).
The municipalities that will receive these alerts from June 18 are:
● Alagoas: Maceió, Marshal Deodoro, Pilar and São Luís do Quitunde
● Bahia: Salvador, Ilhéus, Vitória da Conquista and Santa Cruz Cabrália
● Ceará: Fortaleza, Aquiraz, Caucaia and Uruburetama
