Six individuals were arrested suspected of participating in a trade in weapons and ammunition in the municipality of Rondonópolis, in Mato Grosso. The operation was carried out by the State Civil Police that captured the individuals on June 9 and concluded the analysis of the seizures last Thursday (12).
According to police, “Operation Disarm” has complied with 10 court orders, including arrest warrants and search and seizure. Arsenal, valued at over $ 250,000, includes 10 firearms, more than 44,000 ammunition, several gunpowder pipes, cartridges and a press machine.
The investigation, conducted by the Specialized Theft and Theft Police Station (DERF), began in May 2024 and revealed that the group consisted of a couple and two people who articulated sales. The other two arrested subjects did not have arrest warrants, but were caught in the act.
“The weapons were offered and negotiated by investigated through conversations via WhatsApp, where photographs of weapons and values were sent,” police said.
Throughout the investigations it was found that there was a factor among customers, reclusive in Major PM PM Eldo Sá Corrêa (Mata Grande). Evidence also pointed out that “some firearms, marketed by the criminal group, were used in homicides in the municipality and region.”
The delegate responsible for the investigations, Anna Paula Marien, said cell phones were also seized and sent to the expert.
She said that now the goal is to gather new information “that can lead to others possible, as well as other crimes committed by the criminal group.”
