Increasing defense expenditure cannot go to the detriment of the standard of living. It is difficult to increase them by jumping when we are pushed by consolidation. However, this debate is legitimate in the event of their increase in the horizon of ten years, as President Peter Pellegrini said.
Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (voice-SD) This was stated in the program of Slovak Radio Saturday dialogues. However, according to the deputy of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Ivan Štefunk (PS), it is necessary to talk about increasing these expenses. Štefunko added that it is necessary to talk about increasing defense spending in the context of war in Ukraine.
The topic of the discussion was also the first year of President Petr Pellegrini. Šutaj Eštok perceives his current action as a gradual fulfillment of what he said. According to him, Pellegrini did not make any mistake. The Minister summarized that the President is trying to connect, calls round tables on important topics or balances our foreign policy. According to him, he is trying not to be a coalition president.
According to Štefunk’s opinion, the best Slovak president Zuzana Čaputová was. He noted that he was surprised when Pellegrini remained honorary chairman Voice-SD after taking office. He pointed out that Čaputová surrendered to PS membership after taking office. However, Štefunko cannot imagine that PS would support Pellegrini’s presidential candidacy in the next parliamentary term.
Regarding the current proposal to amend the Constitution of the Slovak Republic, the head of the Interior Ministry sees nothing wrong to define, for example, that a mother is a woman and a father man or that a woman has the same salary for the same job as a man. He recalled that the voice-SD will come with an amendment in the event of a change in the constituency. “To define two genders in the institute is how to define the dimensions of the football field. They are going to solve it to cover all the problems that are in Slovakia,” Štefunko argued.
In the case of this week’s tragedy at a school in Graz, Austria, Šutaj Eštok assessed that there is currently a trend of radicalization of individuals. It appeals to the prevention of children’s mental health and increasing the number of child psychologists and psychiatrists. In this context, Štefunko expressed the view that the number of weapons in circulation should be reduced in Slovakia.
The debate also affected the conflict between Israel and Iran. According to the Minister, the situation between the two countries is serious. He claims that in this case the word peace and de -escalation should be inflected as much as possible. He wants the European Union to appeal to both sides in that the escalation of the conflict does not lead anywhere.
Šutaj Eštok reminded in this context that In Slovakia, they strengthened the protection of risky sites. He confirmed that he would also pay extra attention to mass events. According to Štefunk, the conflict between Israel and Iran is already open at this stage and threatens the whole region. He regrets that Israel did not wait for the United States of America and the European Union in pushing to Iran to give up his nuclear program. In the case of the Gaza war, according to Štefunk, the “two states” are a peaceful solution. Šutaj Eštok respects the territorial integrity of Israel and a uniform attitude within the European Union.
