Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, former orders of orders from former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), was released by the Federal Police (PF) after giving testimony on Friday morning (13) in Brasilia. The military is investigated in an inquiry that investigates the supposed attempt to obtain a Portuguese passport to leave Brazil.
Cid was arrested at home in the urban military sector, but the Federal Supreme Court (STF). Despite the annulment of the warrant, the military was taken to the headquarters of the PF, where he denied any intention to escape the country.

Case involves former Minister Gilson Machado
The investigation focuses on the performance of former Tourism Minister Gilson Machado, who was also arrested this Friday in Recife (PE). The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) states that Machado had tried to intercede with the Portuguese Consulate, on May 12 this year, to enable the issuance of a European passport in favor of Mauro Cid.
The Federal Police points out that the movement may have had as its objective to obstruct the criminal action that investigates the attempted coup d’état attributed to Bolsonaro and allies.
Last week, the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, asked the Supreme Court for the crimes of obstruction of investigation of criminal organization and personal favoritism.

According to the PGR’s request, although the passport has not been effectively issued, there is evidence that Machado can try new joints with embassies or foreign consulates to help CID.
