Teixeira’s continuity, however, causes dissatisfaction between the councilors of the Union itself, who signed at the end of last year a caster agreement in the presidency of the legislature. Teixeira, when asked if he could continue next year, said he will respect the agreement. “Next year, it will most likely be Silvão Leite,” said the president.
Nunes’ leader in the House, Fábio Riva (MDB) says that the mayor’s base will not interfere with an internal decision of the Union.
“The choice is theirs. We always respect party decisions,” Riva said.
Teixeira, however, has pleased the executive in charge of the house, and the mayor would like him to remain beyond 2025.
The current president was able to dam CPIs approved in plenary such as the floods and that of social interest dwellings.
Silvão is seen as an extension of milk, who was chief of staff. The councilman, who is in the first term, refers to the former president as boss.
