With the growing heat, many are thinking of acquiring an air conditioner. By the end of June 2025 there is a strong reason to advance with the purchase: VAT is still reduced.
According to PPLware, the 6%VAT rate, applied to air conditioners (inverter/reversible), heat pumps, solar panels and wind turbines, ends on June 30, 2025.
What changes in VAT
This reduced rate was introduced in 2022 as a way to promote energy efficiency and had a period of three years.
However, it was not renewed in the state budget to 2025, so from July 1, VAT returns at the normal rate of 23%.
How much can save
A practical scenario indicates that for an installation air conditioned at 5,000 euros, the 6% VAT represents a total cost of 5 300 euros, while at 23% the value rises to 6 150 euros.
The difference is 850 euros, a significant amount for any budget, as explained by the publication cited.
Sector reaction
The Association of Installers stressed that keeping VAT reduced would encourage adherence to energetically efficient solutions, fulfilling objectives defined in the National Energy and Climate Plan by 2030.
How to enjoy the “tax trick”
To benefit, as the source explains, just:
We recommend:
-Solicate a final budget with VAT to 6%;
-Agend and earn the installation by June 30;
-Isize that equipment, delivery and service are billed together.
Why it is worth acting now
This tax incentive makes investment more accessible and contributes to the reduction of environmental footprint, reinforcing the energy transition without compromising comfort.
And after July?
After the transient phase, consumers start to pay more directly, as explained.
Although companies can deduce VAT, the final price for the consumer rises about 17 percentage points, something that can wage the appeal to more efficient air conditioning solutions.
