A large fire reached, on Saturday afternoon (14), the inert disposal area located in the controlled landfill of Rio Branco City Hall, located in km 1 of the AC-90 highway, better known as the Transacreana Road, in the rural area of the Acrean capital.

According to preliminary information, the fire started around 3 pm and quickly spread around the scene, mainly reaching construction debris, pruning remains and other materials discarded by the population and cleaning companies.
The dense smoke caught the attention of residents of nearby communities, who called the Acre Military Fire Department (CBMAC). Fire-fighting teams were immediately displaced and, using a canleon and specialized equipment, started work to control the flames and prevent fire from spreading to other areas of vegetation.
According to firefighters, the main challenge in combat was the large amount of dry and flammable material, which made it difficult to extinct the flames. The aftermath was also prolonged, with the objective of eliminating possible remaining focuses and avoiding reignition.
To date, there is no record of injuries. The causes of the fire will still be investigated. However, the initial suspicion is that the fire may have been caused by human action, either intentionally or by irregular disposal of flammable materials.
Rio Branco City Hall said it is following the situation and will reinforce the inspection on site to avoid further incidents.

The Fire Department took the opportunity to alert the population about the risks of setting fire to waste or discarding materials that may cause combustion, especially during the drought period, when vegetation and waste is more susceptible to burning.
