He could have been a fisherman, but the talent for football led him to the largest competitions in the world. He was part of the national team squad that made the country and the Portuguese around the world believed in the first European soccer and still today does not forget the images of people lying on their highlighted to pray. Born in August 1982 in Vila do Conde. He grew up in a family of Caxinian fishermen, a place that has already given the country some of the greatest footballers in the world. The family was humble but “happy with little.” It has two brothers and the older sister was like a second mother.
He left school to follow the dream of many children: being a soccer player. At 12 he left his parents’ house to play for FC Porto.
Growing away from home was not easy, especially for a more “fragile” child. “They enjoyed my way of talking and dressing. When I was alone I went down, but I surpassed,” he says.
He was a national champion at the age of 18, at the service of dragons, and was part of the national team’s squad that made the country and the Portuguese around the world believed in the first European football.

“The greatest thanks I can give to my parents is to have the courage and the freedom to let me fly,” he confesses.
