Given the increasingly public manifestation of unfaithfulness of center and right -wing parties today in the Government (PT), petistas and members of the Planalto Palace say they will work so that, and are neutral in 2026, ie, do not formally support the Bolsanist field candidacy.
The idea is also to invest in the regional leadership support of these parties, if some of them formally collide with an opposing candidate of Lula.
These five parties control 11 ministries and are crucial for the maintenance of Lula’s governability in the National Congress, given the minority character of the left in the House and Senate.
Until recently, there was a behind -the -scenes movement in the MDB and the PSD to occupy the vice in the possible Lula plate of reelection, but today this scenario is seen as unlikely not only in these acronyms, but in the government and the PT.
The winds have changed, at least for now, due to the deterioration of the presidential popularity and among the crises of the (National Institute of Social Security) and, more recently, the (tax on financial operations).
Datafolha survey released on Thursday (12), showed. According to the institute, the petista disapproves of 40%, compared to 28% that approve it – in relation, in relation to the rate of bad or bad, the worst level of the three terms of the politician.
According to the president’s allies, if there is no recovery of popularity, the neutrality of the five allied parties, or part of them, will be a good result for the government.
The idea, in this case, is to repeat in general what happened in the second round of the 2022 campaign, when Lula faced the then holder of the position, (PL). At the time, none of the five subtitles formally supported the PT – of them, PP and Republicans, were even on the Bolsonaro plate – but Lula had the work of wings of the subtitles.
One of the most symbolic, for example, was the adhesion of today Minister (Planning), which played the first round by the MDB and was in third place, with 4.16% of the valid votes.
Today the scenario has been repeating itself. Although the five parties manifest in many cases opposed to the government, wings of these acronyms remain faithful to the PT and should integrate Lula’s stage whatever the formal decision of their respective subtitles.
In MDB, for example, the political groups linked to Tebet, Governor Helder Barbalho (PA) and Senator Renan Calheiros (AL) tend to be next to the petista whatever the formal decision of the party.
The PT works that, in Republicans, current minister Silvio Costa Filho (Ports) will also be with Lula.
Minister Alexandre Silveira (Minas and Energy) of the PSD has already said that he will be at the front line of the petista candidacy for reelection. Governors also bet on the support of other PSD staff, such as former Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), considered by Lula as the ideal candidate for Minas Gerais, Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, Senator Otto Alencar (BA) and the party leader, Antonio Brito (BA).
In the PP, in addition to Minister André Fufuca (MA), governors speak in former mayor Arthur Lira (AL). Although the parliamentarian makes harsh criticism of the executive, he is one of the members of the PP who rejects the Planalto Palace at this time.
Even in the most unfaithful party of the base, União Brasil, the government hopes to raise support that perduces to the stage. The main one is Senate President David Alcolumbre (AP), the main basis for the maintenance of the acronym in the government.
Minister Celso Sabino (Tourism), federal deputy licensed by União Brasil, has already made public statements that he will work for the party support to Lula in 2026. Former Minister Juscelino Filho (MA) is also seen as an ally within the acronym.
According to reports, Sabino has acted behind the scenes to try to bring the summit closer to his Lula party. This week, he met with the government leader in the House, José Guimarães (PT-CE), and discussed, among other things, the possibility of a meeting between the petista and the president of União Brasil, Antonio Rueda. If this happens, it will be the first meeting of Lula and Rueda since he assumed the presidency of the acronym.
The possibility of meetings between Lula and presidents of the allied base party has been discussed by members of the Planalto Palace for a few months. If before this was adventured to deal with the propagated ministerial reform, the idea is now that these conversations occur with the background of the 2026 election.
The president himself stated in an interview earlier this month that he will still discuss with the parties that make up the Esplanade to make a “political decision” on 2026. The Minister (Secretariat of Institutional Relations) has met with representatives of the parties in recent weeks and should bring Lula the possibility of realizing the meetings.
The alliance of convenience signed by Lula 3.
The analysis of the main votes that occurred in the House Plenary in 2025, for example, shows that 55% of parliamentarians of these five subtitles did not support even half of the projects defended by the Planalto Palace.
União Brasil formed a federation with the PP in opposition climate and, on Wednesday (11), even summoned before the proposal was formalized by the Planalto.
Behind the scenes, and in some cases openly, leaders and members of this base.
The only obstacle to this consumer dream of Centrão remains Bolsonaro, today the largest popular leader of Direct.
Inelegable and about to be tried by the Federal Supreme Court by the coup plot, the former president does not yet ensure support to Tarcisio. Publicly, he says he is a candidate, but evaluates names of his own family: his wife, Michelle, and children Eduardo and Flávio Bolsonaro.
