In Belgium on bus line 36 there was a fatal knife attack, the police detained the suspect. The Transport Association draws attention to the increase in violence in the area.

On Monday afternoon, an older man died after an attack with a knife on a bus in the Belgian port city of Antwerp. The other two people, including the driver, suffered injuries and were taken to the hospital. The police detained the suspect, Belga reported, TASR writes.

According to preliminary findings, this was probably a random attack in which there was no previous relationship between the perpetrator and the victims. The case is subject to investigation.

The incident took place on the bus line 36, where, according to the ABV-BTB Traffic Association, violence is repeated. Over the past six months, the driver was reportedly seriously injured, there were stones on the vehicles several times, and the case of a fire in the seat was also registered.

“Today’s fatal sting is the sad peak of the long -term ignored spiral of violence,” the union said, demanding immediate systemic measures.
