Super Sentai is a genre that many know in Brazil only as, but their true origin is much richer and diverse. With different teams, worlds and enemies, these colorful heroes have as its trademark the transformations, dramatic poses and stylized explosions. For those who, like me, grew up admiring this universe, find a project as is a true invitation to nostalgia – and excitement.
With a simple and captivating proposal, Changer Seven presented us with a brief demonstration to which we had early access. In it, you can try a little of combat, know the playable characters and have a sample of what the full game can offer. Although limited, the demo fulfills its role: it leaves a taste of “I want more”, presenting an excerpt where four team members face waves of enemies against iconic Masp, in the middle of Paulista Avenue.
Time to Motor and Detonate
Although short, the experience already allows the player to take control of four heroes of the team: the Red Changer, Ruby Valente; The Blue Changer, Mariana Silva; The Yellow Changer, Leon Lima; and the pink Changer, Rick Rosa. Each has its own style of combat, encouraging the constant exchange between the characters during the confrontations and promoting dynamism to gameplay.
Ruby, the leader of the Changer Seven team, represents the most traditional archetype of the genre. Armed with a sword and fire powers, your approach is direct and effective, ideal for those seeking a more “standard” experience of hero. Mariana, in turn, is a cream defender: with a shield equipped with thrusters, she protects allies and uses it as a brutal impact weapon-turning into a mobile wall capable of crushing any enemy.
Leon and Rick share focus on speed, but have different identities. Leon, with his spear and relaxed posture, is a golden ray that crosses the battlefield. Rick, more reserved and mysterious, uses stealing techniques and shaded teleports, leaving only one pink trail on the countryside – a silent and lethal threat.
There are also mentions to the Green Changer, which appears only at the opening of Changer Seven and in promotional arts. Its robust look and huge fists suggest a brute -based combat style, which should balance well with Mariana’s most technical style. Even absent in the demo, he has already won his space as a personal favorite.
A tour of Av. Paulista dos Monsters
The demo allows us to explore a stretch of Paulista Avenue and an underground area, with varied encounters and the presence of multiple enemies. Although short, the section makes the setting clear: an alternative and stylized Sao Paulo, which acts as a perfect scenario for urban and superhero action of the Changers. Still, some aspects of the demo reveal its early stage of development. Certain animations have a “broken” movement and some excerpts of audio are mixed with very low volumes yet.
In terms of performance, the game was quite stable in my setup. I did not face problems with soft-lock, locking or bugs-even without activating Nvidia’s DLSS features initially. Subsequently, when testing DLSS 4, I realized notable visual improvements: details of the wreckage and scenario elements gained sharpness, increasing immersion. Frame Generation’s function also contributed to more fluid gameplay. Unfortunately, due to hardware limitations, I could not test the Multi-Frame Generation, exclusive of the GPUS of the RTX 50 series.
Changer Seven emerges as a love letter to Tokusatsu and Super Sentai fans, with a touch of Brazilianness that gives the project personality. The choice of Paulista Avenue as a backdrop gives the game a striking identity, as if São Paulo took the role of a tropical “Angels” Alameda. Even with typical technical limitations of an initial build, the demo already points out a considerable potential – either by the creativity of the characters or the unusual setting.
If you grew up vibrating with colorful transformations and caricatures, this game deserves your radar. I personally can’t wait to crush villains with the fists of the green changer.
