The court cannot notify Gouveia and Melo to witness on the insults and threats of a group of negleys during the pandemic. Ten defendants began to be tried for the offenses to the presidential candidate and Ferro Rodrigues.
Four years later, 10 defendants began this Monday to be tried for the offenses to the former coordinator of vaccination against COVID-19-now a candidate for the presidency of the Republic-and also to the former president of the Assembly of the Republic, Eduardo Ferro Rodrigues.
“Killer!”, “Respects the Constitution!”, “Don’t play on children!” He heard at the door of a restaurant near Parliament. THE Episode was marked in the memory of Ferro Rodrigues, to the point of reporting it in his book. Today, he had to remember him in court. The group of protesters who surrounded him in front of the restaurant is now tried for threats and injury.
“You’ll never have peace! Not even this restaurant, because it welcomes a client who is a killer,” he shouted.
Ferro Rodrigues recalls especially a woman with megaphone:
“The Lady of the Megaphone was, for me, unforgettable.”
This woman, Anabela Seabra, is the only one of the ten defendants easily identified in court. Seven decided to make statements. Some admit the insults, but they consider us mere expressions of protest, a “force of expression.”
Out of active political life, Ferro Rodrigues says he took the time to investigate. In the court, mentioned
“I’m already a little vaccinated against the far right. And they know that. Do a google search and summer names of these defendants linked to the extreme right parties constellation.”
Inside the hearing room, it appointed the extinct party raise you, the DNA and the defenders association.
The trial also includes the insults directed to Gouveia and Melo. At the time, it was the face of vaccination. Today he is a candidate for Belém. Even so, the court could not notify him to testify.
To SIC, the advisory of Gouveia and Melo says it was unaware of the first trial session.
