Four fans who hung a doll of Vinicius Junior hanged on a bridge before departing between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid for the King of Spain Cup in January 2023, were convicted of a Madrid court for hate and threat crime, Laliga, the organization responsible for the Spanish championship.
According to the sentence, one of the defendants was sentenced to 15 months in prison for hate crime and seven months for threats after distributing images of the act online. The other three were sentenced to seven months in prison for hate crime and seven months for threats.
However, they will not serve a prison sentence, after all four signed an apology to Vinicius, Real Madrid, Laliga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). They also need to participate in an educational program on egalitarian treatment and non -discrimination.
In addition, the first defendant was fined 1,084 euros (R $ 6,971) and the other three in 720 euros (R $ 4,630) each, with additional punishments including a 1,000 -meter restriction order from Vinicius, his home and his place of work, and prohibition to approach football stadiums during Laliga or RFEF matches.
“The defendant who published the video on the networks was still prohibited from performing duties in educational, sports or recreational environments for four years and three months. The others were punished with three years and seven months of disqualification for these functions,” said the Laliga statement.
There was no immediate confirmation of the court and no immediate reaction from Vinicius.
