Federal Police retired delegate Mauro Sposito died in Manaus on Sunday (15), at 76. The cause of death was not disclosed. The funeral takes place this Monday (16), from 9am, at the headquarters of the Federal Police Superintendence, in the Dom Pedro neighborhood, Midwest Zone of the Amazonian capital. The burial is scheduled for late afternoon at Recanto da Paz Cemetery in the municipality of Iranduba.

Sposito was recognized for his performance in the fight against drug trafficking and criminal factions in the northern region. Considered one of the corporation’s most experienced paintings in Amazonas, he held the position of PF Regional Superintendent for eight years, as well as occupying strategic functions in the Special Projects Unit, the Coordination of Special Borders Operations and Operation Roosevelt, of the Ministry of Justice.
A native of São Paulo, the delegate had lived in Amazonas since 1992 and worked in the Amazon since 1978. In 2021, he was honored with the title of Citizen of Amazonas by the State Legislative Assembly. At the time, thrilled, he stated: “This tribute was one of the most important things I received in life. The emotional picture is very great, difficult to express. I am Amazonian, I can say that.”
Authorities, uniform colleagues and security forces representatives lamented the delegate’s death, highlighting his integrity, technical profile and dedication to public safety.
