Regulation determines the use of a single color in the uniforms in federation competitions
Paris Saint-Germain used on Sunday (15.jun.2025) a source with more than one color for names and numbers on their shirt in match against Atletico Madrid at the Club World Cup.
The action contradicts the regulation of the, which requires a single tone, with clear contrast in relation to the fund for these applications.
Standard 7.2.2 of the FIFA equipment regulation establishes that names and numbers must “To be of a single color, contrasting sufficiently with the surrounding colors”. The goal is to ensure readability for referees, viewers and official transmissions.
In UEFA tournaments, such as the Champions League, there is greater flexibility, allowing aesthetic variations in the sources used by clubs. However, competitions such as the World Cup and the Club World Cup follow FIFA’s guidelines.
This is not the 1st case of disagreement between clubs and the required standard. By 2022, Belgium team had to change the design of its World Cup uniform 2 as it contains non -regulatory graphic elements. In the same year, Senegal also received notification to adjust the numerical contrast.
FIFA has not announced sanctions or requirements for modification to PSG, but teams that make up uniform rules are subject to warning, fine or obligation to adjust the equipment for official matches.
Nike, PSG’s provider, has not yet publicly commented on the model. The uniform in question is the club’s main one for season 2025-2026.
