Umbruch on the Linux desktop: After only a few decades it gets serious about the end of X11

The mills of the Linux world grind slowly, sometimes very slowly. For years, most major desktop projects have agreed that the graphics server X.org is a technological dead end. A project that has not been waiting for years, has numerous fundamental problems and, last but not least, is a real security problem.
