The surgery of more than six hours was the third of Uribe since it was shot. He was rushed to emergency surgery due to bleeding in the brain on Monday morning, according to the hospital, after undergoing another surgical procedure complementary to the original operation.
“I came here to ask all Colombians again, appealing to their good hearts, the love they feel for Miguel, my family and Colombia, that we say a mass prayer. Today is a crucial day,” his wife María Claudia Tarazona told journalists outside the hospital.
On Sunday, marches were held for peace and vigils across the country for Uribe’s health.
