In war with application companies such as and, the mayor of São Paulo, (), it is expected that the governor (Republicans) to sanction bill approved by the assembly that guarantees autonomy to the municipalities of the state to veto or regulate the motorcycle taxi.
Companies that offer applications transport, on the other hand, maintain that the measure is unconstitutional. According to them, it did not restrict the service, but allowed municipalities and states its regulation.
The project, approved on Wednesday (11), provides that the transport of passengers by motorcycles is subject to specific taxes and the registration of the motorcyclist as taxpayer of the INSS (National Institute of Social Security).
“The project is correct, each municipality has its peculiarities and better conditions to define on public mobility policies also aiming at safety and life protection,” says the mayor.
In, there is a 2023 decree that prohibits the service.
AMOBITEC, which brings together application companies such as 99 and Uber, says the project approved by Alesp, if sanctioned by Tarcisio, will endanger the income generation of tens of thousands of motorcyclists and users.
“Amobitec members are favorable to regulation and defend a modern milestone,” says the entity.
“Platforms have technology, data and willingness to work with the government and are available to contribute to discussions and be part of the solution to the security of activity and opportunities,” he adds.
