Pentagon signs 200 million contract with OpenAi to reinforce national security

Department of Defense specified that the contract is with the OpenAi public sector LLC and that the work will focus mainly on the capital of the United States

The US Department of Defense has signed a $ 200 million contract (173 million euros) with OpenAi, which will provide artificial intelligence tools focused on strengthening national security, has been announced today.

President Donald Trump’s administration has significantly increased the number of Pentagon’s budgetary paragraphs to reinforce the country’s safety and combat response.

OpenAi, creator of ChatgPT and Artificial Intelligence (AI) models such as GPT-4O and OpenAi O1, will develop “cutting-edge” AI prototypes to face the critical national security challenges, “both in combat and business domains,” said the Pentagon.

The Department of Defense specified that the contract is with the OpenAi Public Sector LLC and that the work will focus mainly on the US capital, Washington, according to information cited by CNBC.

The announcement comes after OpenAi has announced last year a strategic partnership with Anduiril Industries to develop and implement advanced artificial intelligence solutions for national security missions.

Open Ai co -founder Sam Altman has been a supporter of President Donald Trump since his campaign. Last January, he accompanied the Republican leader in the announcement of an investment of $ 500 billion in AI -related infrastructure.

Last March, the Pentagon signed a contract with Scaleia to develop “ThunderForge”, an initiative “to integrate AI in operational military planning” that would accelerate decision making and respond to various threats in conflicts.
