Donald Trump has not shown a clear position in the offensive between Israel and Iran. To position himself from the hand of diplomacy to resolve the conflict, until he launch clear threats to the Iranian regime, the president of the United States has offered contradictory messages in the last days that leave the world in confusion.
On Friday, the first day of climbing, Trump described Israel’s attacks as “Excellent” and “very successful”clearly showing next to his international ally. However, he also said that a diplomatic solution was possible.
“There has already been a great death and destruction, but there is still time to make this killing, with the next already planned attacks that will be even more brutal, it comes to an end,” said the president in statements collected by the newspaper The New York Times. “Iran must reach an agreement, before nothing is left.”
These threats were transformed into just 24 hours. After a call with Vladimir Putin, Trump said that, as his Russian counterpart, he felt that “This war in Israel-Iran must end”. The Russian president took advantage of the call to congratulate the birthday to the US President.
“We will have peace, soon, between Israel and Iran! Now many calls and meetings are being held,” he revealed in a publication in Truth Social.
However, its position has changed again in the last hours, adopting A much more aggressive tone. To “deal with the conflict,” the president said he was looking for “Something better than a high fire”. Speaking to journalists in the Air Force One during his journey back to the White House, Trump reiterated that he wanted to get “an end, a real ending, not a high fire, a real ending.” In addition, he said he wanted a “complete resignation” by Iran.
Even so, he has been much more forceful in his social network, where he has clarified that “he did not return to work in a high fire.” “The United States first means many big things, including the fact that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.” In addition, he reported that more violence is coming: “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”
At the moment, the president has not clarified if the US could participate directly in the conflict. However, during his trip to Washington, the president alluded to the possibility of sending administration officials – vice president JD Vance and Steve Witkoff, his envoy for the Middle East – to meet with Iranian officials. Although, for now, he says that “I am not humorous to negotiate” with Iran.
