“I recorded all or some of your trips to encourage respectful behavior and protect yourself if something unexpected happens.” Uber’s new feature, “unique” in the market, starts this Tuesday.
The Uber Road Transport Platform launches a new functionality this Tuesday that allows Travel Audio Recordingdirectly from the application, to reinforce the safety and tranquility of the user.
EM,-which was the first TVDE platform (individual passenger road transport in uncharacterized vehicles) to operate in the country-states that it is “a Unique measure ”no market which places “Portugal on the front line of innovation at European level” (outside Europe, the measure already exists in markets like Brazil or the United States).
“We want all Uber users on any trip to feel and know that they are protected by more than 20 safety tools, which we develop and improve continuously, as well as by specialized teams in safety based on Portugal,” says Francisco Vilaça, Uber General Manager in Portugal, quoted in the note.
How it works
Audio recording functionality can be activated by users as they want – either before the driver reaches the point of collection or during the trip.
The recording will end automatically at the end of the trip – or before if the user is over first.
All recordings are encrypted“Protected by rigorous privacy criteria,” and will be automatically eliminated from the device after 7 days. The recording can never be accessed or shared by the user outside the application.
A Uber only has access to recording if the customer wantsfor some security issue. In this scenario the recording is analyzed by the platform’s safety teams and goes to the authorities.
According to the platform, only in cases where the user shares the audio recording with Uber, “in the scope of reporting a matter related to security, it has access to it.”
“In these cases, the recording is immediately analyzed by the Uber Specialized Security teams, which will give due follow -up,” says the platform, adding to specialized teams in Safety based in Portugal, in their center of excellence, and a security team consisting of by 150 Old Authority Agents that investigate and act in the resolution of incidents.
In the application, there is already an alert in the “Account” section, to check your security preferences.
To record the audio on the trip, you should click on the blue security shield and select “Security Preferences” where you can add the “Burning Audio” function to your preferences and allow the application to use the microphone of your device.
