Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki, one of the most emblematic volcanoes of the Indonesian Island of Flores, erupted on Tuesday at 5:35 pm (local time, 10:35 am in Lisbon), according to an official statement from the country’s volcanology agency.
The impressive ash column, described as “gray and thick”, reached about 10,000 meters above the summit, which rises to 1,584 meters altitude. The phenomenon generated a huge cloud visible miles away and forced the rapid activation of safety measures in the region.

To date, there is no record of victims or material damage, the France-Presse News Agency (AFP) said. Still, as a preventive measure, the alert level was high as high as possible (level 4) within a four level system.
Lewotobi is a two -peak volcano and, despite being located on a tourist island, remains constantly monitored by Indonesian authorities due to its history of volcanic activity.
