Report delivered to the STF details use of intelligence structure to monitor political opponents, ministers, journalists and IRS servers
The Federal Police indicted thirty-seven people accused of joining an illegal espionage scheme that used the structure of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency () during the government of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL-RJ). Among the names are Bolsonaro himself, Councilman Carlos Bolsonaro (Republicans-RJ) and the current director general of ABIN, Luiz Fernando Corrêa. The report of more than eight hundred pages was sent to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and points to the monitoring of ministers, politicians, journalists and staff of the IRS.
One of the targets of the espionage, according to the investigation, was the group of auditors responsible for findings against Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) in the case known as “cracked” in the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj). Also of Carlos and Jair Bolsonaro, are also on the list of defendants such as former ABIN director-General, Alexandre Ramagem from Rio de Janeiro, and the agency’s deputy director, Alessandro Moretti.
The investigation revealed that the scheme was used to monitor opponents and protect political allies from the former president. Among the methods used, according to the report, are the tracking of location through clandestine tools and the survey of confidential data without judicial authorization.
The interrogations of the defendants of the core one of the so-called coup plot began on Monday (sixteen), in the first class of the Supreme Court, under the command of Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The hearings are being held in person in the court’s judgment room.
